BEAVER FALLS, PA - Geneva College′s John Shipley came into Saturday′s PAC match against Westminster having not scored a goal in 2011. At the end of the night, Shipley had two on his tally sheet including the overtime game winner midway through the first extra session. Shipley′s overtime winner pushed Geneva past Westminster by the score of 3-2. Geneva improved its overall mark to 9-3-1 including a perfect 3-0 record in the PAC.

Westminster scored the game′s only goal in the first half when David Osae found the net in the 32nd minute. Trailing by a goal, the Golden Tornadoes scored a pair of goals just 30 seconds apart early in the second half. Shipley notched the first of his two goals to get Geneva on the board followed by Jeremy Troutman′s second goal of the season to give the Golden Tornadoes their first lead of the night.

Westminster answered in the 67th minute on Jake Huey′s penalty kick that tied the score. Neither team could dent the scoreboard during the remainder of regulation time. The stage was set for Shipley′s game winner as he took a ricochet off of a Jeb Nash corner kick and ripped the ball into the net for the victory.

Geneva outshot Westminster 23-11 for the game while junior goalkeeper Evan Biedenbach was forced to make seven saves to keep the game tied for most of the night. Geneva′s goal came just moments after the Titans were forced to go down man because of a red card.

Geneva will put its perfect conference record on the line on Wednesday night when it hosts Bethany College at 7:30 pm.
