Grove City, PA - It was not easy for the Geneva College volleyball team on Tuesday night but the Golden Tornadoes managed to pick up their third win in a row and eighth in the last ten with a 3-2 victory over Grove City. The win pushed Geneva′s overall record to 15-7 including a 10-1 mark in the PAC.

Geneva won in five games by scores of 22-25, 25-12, 25-20, 26-28, 15-6 as it was more of the same from the usual suspects. One player that was added to the offensive mix on Tuesday was freshman Erin Smith. Smith′s playing time continues to rise as she threw down nine kills in the victory to match Geneva′s other middle hitter Maggie Bowersox with nine kills of her own. On the outside, Kristland McCracken led the Golden Tornadoes with 12 kills while Ashley Davis and Rachel Kuegler each finished with 11. Deanna Briody led the way with 57 assists while PAC dig leader Brianna Mixter did her thing once again with 34 pick-ups on the night.

With the victory, Geneva reclaimed first place in the PAC with a ½ game lead over 9-1 Bethany, which is the team responsible for Geneva′s lone conference match. The Golden Tornadoes will welcome Bethany to Metheny Fieldhouse next week.

Geneva will be back in action this Thursday when it hosts Washington & Jefferson at 7 pm.
