Latrobe, PA - The Saint Vincent College volleyball team always seems to give Geneva trouble. Even after cruising past the Bearcats in Beaver Falls earlier in the year, the Golden Tornadoes knew they would have their hands full on Saturday in Latrobe. It wasn′t easy but Geneva found a way to get past Saint Vincent 3-2 for its fifth straight victory and tenth win in the last 11 matches. The victory pushed Geneva′s overall record to 17-7 including a 12-1 mark in the PAC.

Geneva won the match with game scores of 25-22, 18-25, 25-21, 23-25, 15-10. After splitting the first four games, the Golden Tornadoes found a way to stay sharp and take the fifth and deciding game on the road.

Geneva′s balanced offensive attack was again on display as Deanna Briody spread the hitting wealth across five effective hitters. Briody finished with 58 assists in finding senior Rachel Kuegler for a team best 15 kills. Kristland McCracken finished with 14 kills, Maggie Bowersox had 13 kills, Erin Smith 11 and Ashley Davis nine. Smith picked up her 11 kills with any hitting errors on just 16 swings. Defensively, McCracken led the way with 30 digs.

The Golden Tornadoes begin a very busy week on Wednesday at Waynesburg that starts a stretch of four matches in four days. On Thursday, Geneva will host Bethany College in a first-place showdown before welcoming Westminster and Thomas More to Metheny Fieldhouse for a pair of matches on Saturday.
