Washington, PA - The third time was the charm for the Geneva and Washington & Jefferson women′s tennis match. After having the match postponed two straight days because of rain, the schools finally hooked up on Saturday afternoon and for the Golden Tornadoes it turned out to be well worth the wait. Geneva cruised to an 8-1 victory which moved its overall record to 5-6, including a 5-3 mark in the PAC.

Geneva picked up forfeit victories in number six singles and number three doubles but it was the work of a handful of Geneva players that made the difference in the victory. Kara Zimmerman cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 victory in singles following an 8-0 victory in doubles alongside teammate Christine Bullock. Other winners in singles included Cassandra Califf, Julie Kline, Alison Beattie and Alyssa Kuhn as the Golden Tornadoes swept each of the singles matches in straight sets. The only disappointing result came in #2 doubles where Emily Andre and Sarah Cyper fell 9-8 with the tiebreaker going W & J′s way by the count of 7-2.

Geneva will close out the regular season on Monday when it hosts Bethany College before preparing for the PAC Championships next Friday and Saturday in Erie.
