Greenville, PA - The Geneva College men′s soccer team entered the final day of the regular season deadlocked with Grove City in both conference record and goal differential. The Golden Tornadoes needed to defeat Thiel and potentially put enough distance between themselves and Grove City to claim the second place spot in the conference and ultimately a first-round home play-off game next Wednesday night. Geneva defeated Thiel by the count of 3-1 and will now have to wait to see how Grove City will fare tonight at Westminster. Should the Wolverines win by two goals or less then Geneva will claim the number two seed in the first year of PAC eligibility.

Despite dominating play to the tune of a 20-3 advantage in shots, Geneva was never able to get true separation from the Tomcats. Garrett Masters opened the scoring with his third goal of the season just nine minutes into the match. The game remained 1-0 until Masters struck again in the 58th minute of action. Jeb Nash got what appeared to be a huge insurance goal in the 72nd minute but Thiel cut the deficit to just two with its only goal of the match just two minutes later.

Geneva′s two-goal differential against Grove City will hopefully hold up as Geneva would then host the Wolverines on Wednesday night at 7 pm in the PAC semi-finals. If the Wolverines are able to beat Westminster by three or more goals tonight then Geneva would be forced to play Grove City on the road on Wednesday.

The PAC championship will be held next Saturday at the highest remaining seed. Thomas More holds the top seed coming into the tournament after an undefeated regular season.
