2011 PAC Volleyball Champs head to NCAA Div III Regionals

Beaver Falls, PA - In a scene right out of March Madness, the Geneva College women′s volleyball team got word of where and when it will be continuing its post-season run on Monday morning. The Golden Tornadoes will be heading to Grand Rapids, MI and defending national champion Calvin College for regional play.

Geneva (27-8) will open up its first regional tournament on Thursday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. against Heidelberg (31-6) in the first of four quarter-final matches. The semi-final matches are set for Friday with the regional championship taking place on Saturday at Calvin. The defending national champion and host Calvin (31-0) will take on St. Norbert (26-7) in the final match of the day. The winner of Geneva/Heidelberg will draw the winner of Rose-Hulman (24-8) and Wittenberg (31-3). The other quarterfinal match-up features Otterbein (25-5) and Hope (24-6).

Eight regional sites were released on Monday with the winner from each regional advancing to the NCAA Division III national championship at Washington University in St. Louis, MO from Nov. 18-20.

"We have challenged ourselves all season with some very tough competition," said head co-head coach Wendy Smith. "We have seen Otterbein twice and are pretty familiar with some of the other programs in our region. At this point of the season, every team poses a solid challenge and we have to be prepared to be at the top of our game."
