Beaver Falls, PA - Being a full-fledged member of NCAA Division III and the Presidents′ Athletic Conference certainly has its privileges. No Geneva College student-athlete was eligible for post-season honors during the last four years of Geneva′s provisional phase. Eligible for the first time in the fall of 2011, the PAC volleyball conference champion Golden Tornadoes took advantage of those privileges when it came time to choose the 2011 All-Conference team. Not only did Geneva have five players named on the first and second teams, but it also picked up a player of the year award and a coach of the year award.

In a vote by conference coaches, sophomore setter Deanna Briody was named the PAC player of the year. Briody served as the conductor for a balanced offensive attack. Briody posted nearly 11 assists per game while leading Geneva to its first PAC title. The co-conspirators of Geneva′s team belong to co-head coaches Wendy Smith and Curt Conser. The duo received coach of the year honors for helping Geneva to a 17-1 conference record and helping to get the Golden Tornadoes to their first NCAA regional tournament.

Joining Briody on the PAC first team were senior outside hitter Rachel Kuegler and junior middle hitter Maggie Bowersox. That duo comprised half of the fearsome foursome at the net for the Golden Tornadoes. Another member of the quartet of stars included second team selection Kristland McCracken. McCracken ended the year as the team′s leader in kills. Brianna Mixter was also a second team selection by holding down Geneva′s defensive end of things as the libero and conference leader in digs.
