Save student aid!“Save Student Aid” is a new campaign of the Student Aid Alliance that intends to show elected officials how important student aid is to their constituents by having student aid supporters sign a Statement of Support.

The Student Aid Alliance is a coalition of 62 higher education organizations, including the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU) of which Geneva College is a founding member. The organization advocates for student aid funding and is at work to put in an end to cutting of student aid. They support a package of proven student aid programs to help students achieve their higher education goals without excessive debt.

Within the past year, student aid programs have been cut by $30 billion, and Congress is currently considering eligibility cuts to the Pell Grant program with the goal of maintaining a maximum grant of $5,500. While pressure to cut student aid funding has mounted with each round of appropriations and debt ceiling talks, the Super Committee, tasked with cutting at least $1.2 trillion in federal spending by Nov. 23, is now considering additional student aid cuts.

Those who want to support this campaign may click here to sign the Statement of Support.

Supporters can also visit the Student Aid Alliance website to send letters to members of Congress in support of student aid.
