Beaver Falls, PA - Some say the first victory is always the hardest. In the case of the Geneva College women′s basketball team, the second win seems to be the one that has been elusive. The Golden Tornadoes fell for the sixth straight time on Wednesday night in a 78-28 decision to Waynesburg University. Geneva fell to 1-6 on the season and 0-3 in the PAC while the Yellow Jackets went to 5-2 and 3-0 in conference play.

Geneva was never really in the game as it trailed the entire night. Waynesburg opened the game with the first 19 points and cruised to a 40-13 halftime lead. Geneva shot just 19% in the first twenty minutes in converting only five field goals.

The second half opened with Waynesburg scoring the first 11 points to push the lead to 38 points just three minutes into the second stanza. The Yellow Jackets caught fire in the second half and shot 64% from the field and knocked down a total of seven treys in the game. Geneva was 1-10 from outside the arc and made only ten field goals in the game.

Geneva did not have any players reach double figures with Beth DeLuca leading the scoring with eight points. Waynesburg got a game high 16 points from Hayden Giuliani and 12 each from Hannah Hunter and Elaine Hasek.

The Golden Tornadoes will look to put an end to their losing slide and try to pick up their first conference victory on Saturday when they travel to Grove City for a 1 pm tip-off. Geneva won′t return home until a date with Chatham on January 4th.
