New Orleans, LA - The Geneva College women′s basketball team is anxiously waiting for the calendar to flip to 2012. The first ten games of the season in 2011 have not gone well and the calendar year closed out with a 69-34 loss to SUNY-Institute of Technology in the final game of the Big East Classic in New Orleans. The loss was Geneva′s ninth straight and moved the Golden Tornadoes′ record to 1-9.

The offensive woes continued for the Golden Tornadoes as they connected on just 11 field goals for the game. Geneva trailed SUNY-Tech by the score of 34-22 at the half but the Golden Tornadoes managed only 12 second half points on 4-16 shooting from the field. Geneva also committed 33 turnovers in the loss which severely limited the offensive scoring opportunities throughout the game.

Trailing by 12 at the half, Geneva watched as SUNY-Tech went on a 20-7 run to open the second half to put the game away. Beth DeLuca led Geneva with nine points as no Golden Tornadoes player finished the game with double digit scoring numbers. Lyndsey Brognano was the story of the game as she posted 32 points on 13-18 shooting that included a 6-9 mark from three-point range. Brognano hit 5-6 three pointers in the first half alone as she scored 21 of her points in the first 20 minutes of the game.

The Golden Tornadoes head north to begin the 2012 portion of their schedule on Monday. Geneva and head coach Lori Wynn will make a homecoming appearance at Malone University on Monday night. Wynn coached the Pioneers for the last four years. Geneva returns home on Wednesday night for a PAC contest against Chatham University at 7 pm.
