Beaver Falls, PA - One of the keys to winning basketball games has always been controlling the rebounding edge. On Saturday afternoon, the Geneva College women′s basketball did that and then some but it wasn′t enough in a 62-42 loss to Washington & Jefferson. The Golden Tornadoes fell to 3-12 overall and 2-6 in the PAC while the Presidents vaulted over Geneva in the PAC standings with a 3-6 mark.

The Golden Tornadoes controlled the glass for the majority of the game and finished the contest with a 54-30 edge in rebounding. Unfortunately, the Golden Tornadoes could not generate any consistency on the offensive end of the floor and shot just 32% from the field.

Geneva led briefly in the first half but made just six field goals in the first 20 minutes and trailed 28-20 at the break. W & J extended the lead to as many as 22 points in the second half before the Golden Tornadoes try to get back into the game. Geneva cut the lead to just 12 points midway through the second half but could not get the deficit into single digits.

Beth DeLuca was Geneva′s only scorer in double figures with a team high 16 points. Rachel Rouan led the team with 12 rebounds while Samantha Fisher added nine rebounds and nine points.

Geneva hits the road for three straight beginning with a trip to New Wilmington to face Westminster next Wednesday night. The Golden Tornadoes return home on January 25th to host Bethany.
