"Take a Kid to a Game Day" is this Wednesday, February 1, 2012. Geneva College′s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), in conjunction with the NCAA, invites all school-aged children to come to the men′s and women′s basketball doubleheader free of charge, as the Golden Tornadoes take on Grove City College. The women′s game starts at 5:30 p.m., and the men′s game begins at 7:30 p.m. Both games will take place in Geneva′s Metheny Fieldhouse. Children who attend the games will be welcome to sit in the stands with the student-athletes.

Jeff Santasiero, head coach of the men′s basketball team, says, "I think it is a great idea. We have done this on several occasions, and it has always been well received. All our athletic programs, along with the mission of the college, are about community. A special night like this is a perfect way to give back. We are looking forward to a great night."

The head coach of the women′s basket ball team, Lori Wynn, agrees: "I′m so excited that Geneva College basketball can be part of this event. It′s important to expose kids to athletics and competition at a young age. The kids can be exposed to the possibility of college athletics and the role models that our athletes can be. More importantly, they can be exposed to Christian athletics and a Christian college, in general."

Between the games, the academic excellence of 53 Geneva students who were selected as members of the Presidents′ Athletic Council 2011 Fall Academic Honor Roll will be recognized. In addition, the fall season accomplishments of the men′s soccer team and women′s volleyball team will be honored.
