Latrobe, PA - Losing basketball games is simply not very fun. When a team loses ten straight it becomes especially frustrating. On Saturday afternoon, the Geneva College women′s basketball team fell to Saint Vincent 81-45 for its tenth consecutive loss. What makes this streak even more damaging is that it becomes the second ten-game slide of the season for the Golden Tornadoes. Geneva fell to 3-20 on the season and 2-14 in the conference. Meanwhile, the Bearcats improved to 19-4 overall and 14-2 in league play. The Geneva loss was also the eighth straight to Saint Vincent dating back to 2008.

Saint Vincent never trailed in the game as it opened with 11 of the game′s first 13 points. Leading 19-7 midway through the first half, Saint Vincent scored 16 consecutive points to explode out to a 33-7 advantage over the next five minutes. By halftime, the Bearcats held a 38-11 advantage.

Geneva made things much more respectable in the second half but was still outscored 43-34 in the final stanza. The Golden Tornadoes connected on just four field goals in the first half and finished the game shooting 37% from the field. The Bearcats shot nearly 51% from the field for the game including seven three-point field goals.

Freshman guard Chelsea Kauffman led the Golden Tornadoes with 17 points on 7-12 shooting from the field. Beth DeLuca added 16 points while Rachel Rouan returned to the line-up with 11 points and five rebounds.

The Golden Tornadoes will travel to Washington & Jefferson on Wednesday before returning home next Saturday for the season finale against Westminster at 5:30 pm.
