Beaver Falls, PA - There was not a whole lot to cheer about for the Geneva College women′s basketball team this season. On Saturday, the 2011-12 campaign came to a close with a 58-42 loss to Westminster as the Golden Tornadoes closed out a 3-22 campaign and a 2-16 mark in the PAC. Despite the losses on the scoreboard, the celebration for Geneva′s senior duo of Beth DeLuca and Rachel Rouan was well deserved.

Once again hampered with injuries, Geneva dressed only seven players in the season finale and fought tooth and nail with the Titans for nearly 40 minutes. Trailing by only four points at the half, Geneva led twice in the first stanza with its last lead coming with less than three minutes to play before the break. Westminster led the entire second half but the Golden Tornadoes did cut the lead to just one at 35-34 on a Lydia Steele basket with 11:23 to play in the game. Geneva went the next six minutes without scoring while the Titans ran off 13 consecutive points to open up a 14 point advantage.

Senior Beth DeLuca finished the game with 12 points while fellow-senior Rachel Rouan scored five in their final showing with the Golden Tornadoes. Freshman Chelsea Kauffman ended her first season with a team best 13 points on 5-9 shooting from the field. Geneva converted just 13 field goals for the game and shot just 27% in the second half. Meanwhile, the Titans heated up in the final 20 minutes and shot 50% from the field.

Katie Hughes came off the bench for Westminster to score a team best 12 points. The Titans secured the fifth seed in the Presidents′ Athletic Conference tournament and will travel to fourth seed Bethany in a first round game on Tuesday. The Golden Tornadoes ended their season as they did not qualify for the tournament in their first year of eligibility.
