pic-springbreak2012.jpgWhile thousands of college students head to exotic locations for fun, sun and relaxation during Spring Break, a number of Geneva College students are using their time off in different ways. Some of the activities Geneva students are involved with during break include Quest Trips, athletic road trips and Genevans Tour.

Quest Trips are short-term mission opportunities for students to travel both domestically and internationally and explore the ideas of justice, community development, beauty and creativity, civic responsibility, and advocacy for others. These trips are designed as opportunities for students to connect a Christian worldview to faithful reflection, response and action. They are built around partnerships with organizations in different locations with a focus on education, leadership development, service, and collaboration with host organizations. Destinations this year include Aliquippa, PA; New Orleans, New York City; Quito, Ecuador; Three Rivers, MI; and Washington, DC.

Student Quest Coordinator Allie Reefer is doing her best to encourage those leading the trip. She says, "This year, I've talked a lot with the trip leaders about listening to each individual to see how the trip is impacting them, how they feel and what they're learning."

During this time, two of the athletic teams will represent Geneva while embarking on trips to Florida. The softball team is going to Ft. Myers and will be playing 12 games. The baseball team is travelling to Ft. Pierce. They will play two games against Tennessee Temple, and will then play 10 more games when they get to Florida.

"The Spring baseball Florida trip is a time when the whole baseball team is able to spend a week together. It's very exciting because usually it's our first time outside playing. But mostly hanging out with the entire team for a week is the best thing," said baseball player Jeremy Herzog.

And The Genevans, the college′s student choir, will spread their musical ministry while on tour throughout Pennsylvania from March 2-11. The concerts will vary as songs are chosen from the Genevans′ large repertoire. This tour marks farewell to Dr. Robert Copeland, the director of the choir, who has faithfully served at Geneva College for 31 years.
