Fort Myers, FL - Senior hurler Julie DiLonardo will certainly enjoy the off day on Thursday for the Geneva College softball team. DiLonardo has started in five of the first six games in three days for the Golden Tornadoes. On Wednesday, DiLonardo and the Golden Tornadoes split a pair of games to move to 2-4 on the season. Geneva dropped the opener 4-2 to Wilmington before posting a 4-0 shut-out against Clark College.

Adams scored on a Wilmington throwing error that was set-up following a single from Rachel Lee. Wilmington tied the game with a run in the second and ten scored a pair of runs in the fourth to take its first lead of the game. Mackenzie Kemerer came up with an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth to pull Geneva back to within a run. Wilmington posted an insurance run in the fifth inning before Geneva put the tying runs on base in the seventh but could not complete the comeback. DiLonardo got the loss after pitching seven innings and allowing three earned runs on eight hits. Geneva picked up six hits from six different players.

DiLonardo was dominant in game two as she posted her first shut-out of the season. She went seven innings and allowed seven singles while striking out four. The Golden Tornadoes had eight hits in the game from eight different players. Christina Fuqua opened the scoring with an RBI single in the first inning. Geneva came up with a three-spot in the fourth with RBI singles from Michelle Barr and Cassie Schaffer. Martha Adams pushed the final run of the game across with a bases loaded walk.

Geneva will enjoy an off day on Thursday before getting back to work with games against Finlandia and Mitchell on Friday afternoon.
