Beaver Falls, PA - The Presidents′ Athletic Conference announced its track and field performers of the week and Geneva College′s Katherine Michalak made the cut. For the second consecutive week, a Geneva College student-athlete won the female field athlete of the week award. Even more interesting is the fact that the award not only stayed in the Geneva family, but it stayed in the Michalak family.

Senior Liz Michalak took home the award last week for her heptathlon victory at Wheeling Jesuit. Younger sister Katherine won the award based on her record setting performance in the shot put at Washington & Jefferson.

Michalak finished first overall with a final distance of 40-0 ½. Her winning toss was more than a foot better than Geneva′s all-time record which has stood since 1992. Michalak has also qualified for the NCCAA national track and field meet in May. Her personal best of over 40 feet ranks her 21st in NCAA Division III.

The Golden Tornadoes are back in action this Friday when they travel to the University of Mount Union.
