Beaver Falls, PA - Geneva′s softball team managed to take a game from first place Westminster College on Wednesday afternoon. The Golden Tornadoes dropped game one 3-1 before rallying for a 6-1 victory in the night cap. The split moved Geneva′s overall record to 23-15 including a 7-5 mark in the Presidents′ Athletic Conference.

Westminster took advantage of three infield singles and an error to post all three of its runs in the top of the third inning. Geneva had several chances to come back as it got one run back in the fourth inning on a Brittany Clark base hit. Westminster pulled off a pair of double plays in the sixth and seventh innings to thwart a pair of Geneva comeback attempts. Julie DiLonardo took the loss in allowing only one earned run on five hits. She struck out five in the loss. Geneva′s offense accounted for seven hits including a pair from Mackenzie Kemerer.

In game two, Geneva opened the scoring with a pair in the first on a two-run homer from Ashley Davis. Ashley Ritchey′s RBI double in the second plated Geneva′s third run before Westminster got one back in the fourth. The Golden Tornadoes iced the game away with a three-run fifth highlighted by a two-run double from Christina Fuqua. Fuqua then scored on a sacrifice fly from Lori Deem. DiLonardo went the distance for her 19th victory of the season. She allowed just one earned run on nine hits while striking out a season low one batter. Geneva banged out seven hits including a pair from Davis.

Geneva will travel to Washington on Saturday to play a doubleheader with Washington & Jefferson at 1 pm. The Golden Tornadoes close out the regular season with home doubleheaders against Thomas More next Wednesday and Chatham a week from Saturday.
