Beaver Falls, PA - Each week the Presidents′ Athletic Conference awards player of the week honors for both the hitter and pitcher of the week in softball. This past week both awards were captured by members of the Geneva College softball team. The player of the week award went to sophomore second baseman Christina Fuqua while Julie DiLonardo claimed her second pitcher of the week honor for the year.

Fuqua helped lead Geneva to the NCCAA East regional title last week while also helping to gain a split with first place Westminster College. Fuqua was 11-21 (.524) with eight runs scored and ten RBI. She had four doubles, a triple and a home run. For the season, Fuqua leads Geneva with 44 hits and 28 RBI.

DiLonardo posted a 3-1 record in the circle last week in 28.2 innings of work. She allowed just two earned runs (0.49 ERA) and struck out 23 batters. In doing so, DiLonardo broke Geneva′s all-time record for strikeouts with 498. She also became the first pitcher in school history to surpass the 200 strikeout mark for a single season.

The Golden Tornadoes begin the new week with an overall record of 23-15 including a mark of 7-5 within the Presidents′ Athletic Conference. Geneva has six more conference games this week to close out the regular season.
