Beaver Falls, PA - The story of the 2012 Geneva College baseball team received its final chapter on Saturday afternoon. The Golden Tornadoes split a doubleheader with Waynesburg with a 4-3 victory in game one and a 14-5 setback in season finale. The final day of the regular season was a snapshot of the entire season for the Golden Tornadoes. Sophomore Mike Jeffreys did what he has been doing all season with yet another victory on the mound while the night cap highlighted more pitching problems for Geneva. The split finished Geneva′s season at 15-21 overall and 9-15 in the conference.

Jeffreys picked up his seventh victory of the season in game one. Going the distance, he allowed three earned runs on eight hits while striking out ten in the victory. Geneva′s offense got going with an unearned run in the first inning. Jeffreys then knocked in a run with a base hit in the second and a third run came across on a fielder′s choice off of Mike Suluva′s bat in the third. Waynesburg cut the lead to one with a pair of runs in the fourth. Geneva added an insurance run in the sixth inning on an RBI single from Jeremy Herzog. That run would prove to be large as Waynesburg rallied with a run of its own in the top of the seventh before Jeffreys closed out the game with the tying run left on second base.

Jon Bushmire knocked in the game′s first run in the second inning of game two. With the score tied at 1-1 in the third, Joel Gatti produced an RBI double and then scored on an Adam Scheiderer base hit. Waynesburg took its first lead with three in the fourth and never looked back. The Yellow Jackets put the game away with a five run seventh inning. Geneva had nine hits in the night cap including two each from Mike Suluva and Adam Scheiderer.
