Beaver Falls, PA - The post-season has arrived for the Geneva College softball tournament. After suffering through four years of an NCAA provisional phase, the Golden Tornadoes were finally eligible for the PAC tournament in 2012 and they have taken full advantage of that opportunity. Finishing the 2012 regular season with a 27-17 overall record and a mark of 11-7 in conference play, the Golden Tornadoes have secured the fourth seed in Thursday′s PAC tournament at Saint Vincent College.

Geneva finished the conference season tied for second place but due to numerous tie-breakers, the Golden Tornadoes picked up the number four seed and will face top seeded and host Saint Vincent in the first round of the four-team, double elimination tournament. The Bearcats swept a doubleheader from Geneva earlier in the year by scores of 1-0 and 2-1.

Geneva and Saint Vincent will open the 2012 PAC tournament on Friday at 11 am with #2 seed Thiel College facing #3 seed Westminster at 1 pm. The winner′s of game one and two will play at 3 pm and the loser′s will face-off at 5 pm in the first day of the tournament. The eventual tournament champion will receive an automatic bid into the NCAA Division III national tournament pairings that will begin with regional tournaments on May 11. The eight-team national tournament will be played in Salem, VA beginning on May 17.
