Dr. Robert and Mrs. Louise CopelandGeneva College is pleased to announce the induction of Dr. Robert Copeland and Professor Louise Copeland into the Beaver Valley Musicians Union′s Hall of Fame. Each year, the Musicians Union honors those who have contributed to music culture by nurturing emerging talent and encouraging audience appreciation as well as establishing distinguished reputations as performing artists themselves.

"Dr. Robert Copeland and Mrs. Louise Copeland of Geneva's Music Department are superb exemplars of this model. The event itself is a fund-raiser to provide scholarship grants to young local musicians who are excelling in post-secondary musical studies" said Elizabeth Douglas, Professor Emeritus of Fine Arts and Humanities at Geneva and member of the board of directors of the Beaver Valley Musicians Union.

Dr. Robert Copeland is retiring this year after 41 years of teaching. He taught music at Mid-America Nazarene College in Kansas for 10 years and has served Geneva′s music department for 31 years as professor of music and director of the college′s choir, the Genevans.

Professor Louise Copeland has also been at Geneva for 31 years. She is an associate professor of music and the director of Grace Notes and New Song. She also coordinates the annual Geneva College Henry Mancini Musical Theatre Awards.

Dr. Robert Copeland said "It′s always nice to be recognized for career achievement, but it′s particularly special when recognition comes from our peers in the profession. It′s also very humbling to be included in the list of distinguished Beaver County musicians who have been honored in the Musicians Union′s Hall of Fame."

The ceremony will take place on Sunday, May 6, at the Fez Banquet Hall in Aliquippa.
