Elgin, IL - A total of 23 student-athletes traveled to the NCCAA national track and field meet this weekend to represent Geneva College on the national stage. In what has become no surprise to anyone, senior multi-event star Liz Michalak highlighted the weekend with a second place finish in the heptathlon. Michalak posted 4340 points in her seven events which was just 65 shy of first place.

Other top ten finishes on the women′s side included Mary Keen′s ninth place spot in the discus with a distance of 114-05 and Kathryn Regalado′s fifth place finish in the shot put with a toss of 39-04. In the 5000 meter event, Emily Hoobler placed seventh with a final mark of 18:55.36.

Geneva′s men also had some top flight performances which included personal best records from Rick Truesdell in the shot put and Owen Struck in the 1500 meter race. Struck′s time of 4:06.03 was good enough for tenth place. Freshman Jordan Rupert placed fourth overall in the javelin with a distance of 177-07 while Mark Filtz distance of 43-07.00 in the triple jump was good enough for fifth place.
