Beaver Falls, PA - The Geneva College softball team huddled around the television set on Monday morning as the 61 team field was announced for the NCAA Division III national play-offs. The Golden Tornadoes learned their play-off fate on Monday as they will travel to Alma, MI for a first-round regional game against top seeded Trine University.

Geneva and seven other schools will compete in the Alma regional with the winner of the double-elimination tournament advancing to the NCAA Division III World Series in Salem, VA scheduled to begin on May 18. Alma is one of eight regionals across the country that will each provide a representative for the World Series.

Geneva finished the season as the PAC champions with an overall record of 30-17. The Golden Tornadoes will face Trine University (37-8) in the first game of the region on Thursday at 10 am.

The rest of the Alma regional field includes the following:

#2 Ohio Northern (26-12)

#3 Alma (28-12)

#4 Chicago (24-9)

#5 John Carroll (30-13)

#6 Denison (27-17)

#7 Penn State Behrend (26-13)

The regional champion is scheduled to be crowned on Monday, May 14.
