Beaver Falls, PA - Pitt-Bradford finished the 2011 season with a school record 13 victories. In its 16 matches from a year ago, the Panthers allowed just eight goals. Geneva College managed to solve that defensive puzzle in the 2012 season opener, but its one goal wasn′t enough in a 2-1 loss to Pitt-Bradford.

The two teams played to a scoreless tie for the first 30 minutes of the match. In fact, Geneva had the better of the play with several outstanding scoring opportunities, but it was Pitt-Bradford that broke the ice at the 30:36 mark of the first stanza. Tell Follman found the back of the net for the Panthers for the first goal of the season. Less than a minute later, Kelsea Robbins scored what would ultimately be the game winner.

Geneva out shot Pitt-Bradford eight to five in the first half but could not find the net. That all changed 20 minutes into the second half when freshman Heidi Mann found a loose ball in the box and notched her first collegiate goal to cut the lead in half. Freshman goalkeeper Anna McMullen made seven saves including five in the second half to keep Geneva in the game but the Golden Tornadoes could not find the game tying goal. The one-goal loss continued a trend from a year ago that saw Geneva drop seven one-goal decisions.

Geneva won′t have much time to recover as it will be back on the field in 24 hours to host Muskingum College in the only back to back games of the season.
