Fredonia, NY - Geneva′s men′s soccer team hasn′t exactly been lighting up the scoreboard in the first two weeks of the new season. Despite scoring just three goals in the first three matches of the season, the Golden Tornadoes have won two out of three of those matches thanks to a very stingy defense. On Tuesday night, Geneva and sophomore goalkeeper Bryan Butler posted their second consecutive shut-out in a 1-0 victory over Fredonia State. The win was Geneva′s second shut-out in four days as it moved to 2-1 on the season.

Neither team could find the net in the first 45 minutes as the teams went to the break in a scoreless tie. Eighteen minutes into the second half, Garrett Masters pushed a cross in front of the opposing net and Teddy Kryzywiecki got his head on it and the ball found the back of the net for the only goal of the match.

The Golden Tornadoes dominated the field position and the statistical sheet in the second half. Geneva finished the match by out shooting Fredonia 17-5 including six shots on goal to just one for the host team. Butler was forced to make just one save in securing his second shut-out of the season.

Geneva finally returns to its home field this weekend for the home opener against Allegheny College on Saturday night at 7 pm.
