Beaver Falls, PA - For the majority of the early season, it has been freshman Heidi Mann that has dominated most of the headlines and rightly so as the first year player became the first player in school history to record at least one goal in her first four games. Mann′s streak came to an end on Wednesday but it was another Geneva freshman that has quietly put together quite an impressive streak of her own. Geneva and Carlow battled to a scoreless tie after 110 minutes and it was the play of freshman goalkeeper Anna McMullen that the Golden Tornadoes have to thank for the final result. Geneva pushed its overall record to 2-2-1 with the tie as McMullen stole the show on College Hill.

Carlow controlled most of the offensive chances in the match but McMullen was up to the challenge every time. She made a career high 13 saves as the Celtics out shot Geneva 20-6 for the match including 13 Carlow shots that were on net.

Geneva had a few chances to find the net but Carlow goalkeeper Ashlyn Fratto was equally tough as she stood tall to make three saves and has yet to give up a goal in 2012. With ten minutes remaining in regulation, a point blank Carlow shot from inside the 18-yard line was knocked away by a diving McMullen to preserve the shut-out and the tie for Geneva. McMullen has now gone 255 consecutive minutes without allowing a goal dating back to the first half against Point Park one week ago.

The Golden Tornadoes will enjoy a weekend off before heading to Franciscan University on Monday. Geneva returns home next Wednesday to face Pitt-Johnstown at 5 pm.
