Marietta, OH - The Geneva women′s tennis team stepped out of conference play on Saturday morning to make a trip west to battle Marietta College. Less than 24 hours after suffering its first PAC loss, Geneva turned the tables on the host Pioneers and picked up an 8-1 non-conference victory. The win pushed Geneva′s overall record to 4-2.

Geneva swept all three doubles matches for a commanding 3-0 lead. The duo of Brittany Kress and Courtney Light cruised to an 8-3 victory to push their season record to a perfect 5-0. Other doubles victories included the teams of Jen Bullock and Samantha Jensen (8-4) and top doubles team Julie Kline and Christine Bullock (8-5).

In singles action, the Golden Tornadoes won five of six matches with the win of the day going to Samantha Jensen. Trailing in her number three singles match 1-6, 2-5, Jensen rallied to take the second set 7-5 before winning the tie-breaker 10-3. Alison Beattie won 6-0, 6-3 to move her perfect season record to 4-0. Other winners included Alyssa Kuhn, Darcie Shaffer and Megan Sweyer, who won her first collegiate match 6-0, 6-4.

Geneva will return home for a make-up match with Washington & Jefferson on Monday at 4 pm. The Golden Tornadoes travel south next weekend for a match against Franklin College on Friday and Thomas More on Saturday morning.
