Steubenville, OH - It has been a long time since an opponent has scored on Geneva′s women′s soccer team. In fact, it has been nearly three weeks since the Golden Tornadoes and freshman goalkeeper Anna McMullen have surrendered a tally. The scoreless streak for McMullen was extended to 345 minutes on Monday as Geneva defeated Franciscan 3-0. The victory pushed Geneva′s overall record above the .500 mark for the first time this season at 3-2-1.

The match was played evenly on the field and on the score sheet, but it was all Geneva on the scoreboard. Franciscan out shot Geneva 18-17 for the game with 13 of those 18 shots put on McMullen. The freshman turned everyone aside giving her back to back games with double digit saves.

While McMullen was doing her thing in the net, the Geneva offense did its job on the other end of the field. The freshman sensation Heidi Mann continued to impress with yet another two-goal game. Mann broke a scoreless tie in the 37th minute when she split a pair of defenders and scored on a breakaway. Maura Allen, Geneva′s leading scorer from a year ago, picked up her first goal of the season in the 54th minute to extend the lead before Mann scored again in the 82nd minute giving her a team best seven goals on the season.

The Golden Tornadoes will put their three game scoreless streak on the line on Wednesday night when they return to host Pitt-Johnstown at Merriman Complex at 5 pm.
