Latrobe, PA - Some extra days off certainly didn′t develop rust on the legs of Geneva′s Nick Edinger and Sarah-Noel Meek. The dynamic cross country duo won yet again as the Golden Tornadoes′ cross country team got back to action on Saturday at Saint Vincent College. Geneva′s men finished fifth out of 11 schools while the women′s team brought home a second place overall finish in a 12-team field.

In men′s action, Nick Edinger won the overall meet with a time of 26:27. It was Edinger′s second overall victory of the season in just two meets. Teammates Owen Struck (31), Jacob Beschner (38) and Charles Parker (56) also turned in solid performances. Maybe the most impressive effort came from Geneva freshman Ryan Lamb. Lamb was Geneva′s fifth faster runner with a time of 31:04. Head coach Brian Yowler has been patiently waiting for Lamb to show what he could do and the freshman stepped up in a big way with a personal best time and a 66th place finish.

Sarah-Noel Meek seemingly can do no wrong in her first collegiate season. Meek has finished in the top three in each of her first three meets as she turned in her second first place finish of the fall on Saturday. Competing in the only 5K meet of the season, Meek turned in the fourth fastest time in school history with a first place mark of 19:09. Other highlights for the women included a fourth place finish from Alayna Merkle (19:49) and a ninth place spot by Emily Hoobler (20:21). Geneva′s other top five finishers included Shannon Rech (11) and Anna Kluitenberg (25). The Golden Tornado women finished with a total of 50 points, which was bested only by NCAA Division II California, PA with a winning total of 35 points.

Geneva′s cross country team heads to Dickinson College next Saturday for the Dickinson Invitational. The PAC championships will be held on October 27th at Bethany College.
