It has been anything but easy for the Geneva College football team through the first month of the 2012 season. The Golden Tornadoes opened the campaign with three consecutive losses including two games that were decided on or close to the final play of the game. Geneva played its first three games away from Beaver Falls and will finally get a chance to enjoy some familiar surroundings this Saturday as it gets set to play the latest home opener in school history.

The challenge does not get any easier for the Golden Tornadoes as they are preparing to face the four-time defending PAC champion Thomas More Saints on Saturday in a 1 p.m. kick-off at Reeves Field. Thomas More will come into action as an unruly bunch as it has opened the season with a 1-2 record for the first time since 2004. The Saints are coming off a heartbreaking 14-10 loss at Waynesburg a week ago.

While Geneva and Thomas More will mix it up on the field, the Golden Tornadoes will be celebrating one of its most popular academic majors off of it. Geneva is welcoming prospect students who have an interest in majoring in Geneva′s nationally accredited business program. Students will enjoy a pre-game party before having the chance to take in the game later in the day.

The Golden Tornadoes will also welcome back former Vice President of Development Charles "Chick" O′Data. Mr. O′Data graduated from Geneva College in 1958 with a B.S. degree in Economics. He served as Vice President for Development at Geneva from 1962-1997 when he retired. "Chick" has also served as a trustee at Geneva and is the proud recipient of the Distinguished Service Award and Life "G" Award-Chick, who retains Emeritus status at Geneva, served as a director and chairman of Heritage Valley Health System, the Medical Center, Beaver, for 25 years. He is also the founder and President of the Beaver County Foundation.

The Golden Tornadoes will be heading back to the road for consecutive conference road games at Bethany and Grove City before heading back home. Geneva will meet Waynesburg in a homecoming match-up on October 20 at 4 p.m.
