Mayor Boak Receiving PlaqueGeneva College hosted a reception on Monday, September 10 to honor Karl Boak, who is retiring after serving as mayor of Beaver Falls, PA for nearly 12 years.

During the reception, Dr. Kenneth A. Smith, President of Geneva, thanked Mayor Boak for his service both to the community and to the college.

"We thank you for the leadership you have shown," said President Smith. "We can all attest that Beaver Falls is a better place."

President Smith then presented Mayor Boak with a hand-crafted oak box with a forged metal plate of Old Main and inscribed with the words, ‘Mayor Boak, thank you.′

"I was never a politician. I was a community service person," said Boak. "We [Beaver Falls] appreciate the college. It′s a part of us."

Geneva College is a comprehensive Christian college of the arts, sciences and professional studies.
