Washington, PA - It certainly isn′t coming easy for the defending PAC champions these days but the sign of a good team is when it finds a way to win. On Tuesday night, Geneva′s volleyball team did just that with a come from behind 3-2 victory at Washington & Jefferson to improve its overall record to 15-6 including a 6-2 mark in conference play.
Geneva rallied to beat W & J by scores of 25-18, 20-25, 15-25, 25-22, 15-12. After taking the first set, the Golden Tornadoes watched a President′s team that fell to 1-8 in the conference with the loss take sets two and three before coming back for the victory.
Ashley Davis and Kristland McCracken led the offense with Davis posting 18 kills and 22 digs while McCracken finished with 15 kills and 21 digs. Deanna Briody came up with 42 assists while Maggie Bowersox was huge on the service line with three aces including a big run of quality serves in the fifth and deciding set.
Geneva will return to Metheny Fieldhouse for only the third date of the season on Saturday. The Golden Tornadoes will host a tri-match with Thomas More and Grove City. Geneva will face the first place Saints at 11 am and the Wolverines at 3 pm. Thomas More and Grove City will face-off with each other at 1 pm. Geneva returns home next Tuesday night to host Chatham University.
