Bethany, WV - The month of October has proven to be quite good for the women′s soccer team. In fact, the "O" in October could stand for the amount of goals that the Golden Tornadoes have allowed in the first three matches of the month. On Wednesday night, Geneva posted a 3-0 victory at Bethany College for its third consecutive shut-out win as the Golden Tornadoes improved to 7-5-1 overall and 3-1 in conference play.

Since Geneva fell behind 5-2 to Washington & Jefferson on September 29th, the Golden Tornadoes have outscored their opponents 10-0. On Wednesday night, Geneva′s Caroline Wright got a head on a Megan Hiers cross just nine minutes into the match for the game′s first goal. Wright would figure in on all three Geneva goals as she posted assists on goals two and three.

Leading 1-0 into the second half, Geneva got goals from its top two scorers as Heidi Mann scored her team leading 12th goal in the 57th minute and Maura Allen added her fifth goal of the season in the 66th minute to close out the scoring.

Anna McMullen was forced to make just two saves in registering her sixth shut-out of the season. Geneva dominated the play by out shooting the Bison 23-6 for the game.

The Golden Tornadoes will get a stern test on Saturday when first place Thomas More comes to Merriman Complex for a 3:30 pm kickoff. Next week, Geneva travels to Waynesburg on Wednesday before returning home for an 11 am homecoming kickoff on October 20th.
