Beaver Falls, PA - It was a bitter pill to swallow for the Geneva College men′s soccer team last year when it saw a late lead slip away in the 2011 PAC championship match at Thomas More. On Saturday evening, the Golden Tornadoes got a little revenge on the Saints in a 1-0 victory that resulted in Thomas More′s first conference loss of 2012. The win pushed Geneva′s overall record to 7-5-2 including a 3-1-1 mark in conference play.

Neither team could find the net in the first half as the teams went to the halftime break in a scoreless tie. Thomas More controlled the play in the first half but Geneva′s Bryan Butler turned away six shots in the first half to keep the game deadlocked. The second half saw Geneva flip the field on Thomas More which resulted in the only goal of the match.

Keenan Barr took a feed from Jesse Herman and deposited the ball into the net in the 75th minute of the match. While Butler was forced to make just one save in the second half it turned out to be the save of the match. Thomas More was issued a penalty kick with less than three minutes on the clock and Butler came up with the save to register the victory and the shut-out.

Geneva will hit the road for Waynesburg on Wednesday before a homecoming date with Grove City next Saturday at 1 pm.
