Oberlin, OH - It was simply a perfect day to go for a run and the Geneva College cross country teams took full advantage of the conditions at the Oberlin College meet on Saturday. While senior Nick Edinger shattered his own school record on the men′s side, every Geneva College women′s runner set a personal best time by at least one minute.

Nick Edinger continued his assault on the Geneva record book as he smashed his own record by 1:23 in the 8K event. Edinger finished the race in 11th overall position with a time of 24:23. The ten runners that finished ahead of Edinger each ran personal best times on Saturday.

On the women′s side, two runners broke Geneva′s all-time 6K mark on Saturday. Sarah-Noel Meek and Alayna Merkle each broke Geneva′s school record. They are two of the three females in school history to run under 23 minutes. Teammates Emily Hoobler and Shannon Rech ran sub-24 minutes for the first time. In the fifth spot, Anna Kluitenberg pushed her personal best time down by over one minute.

On the afternoon, Geneva′s top five became the 1st, 2nd, 5th, 8th and 15th fastest women in school history. As a group, the average time was 23:16, which was easily the fastest in school history. The women finished behind only nationally ranked teams in the overall competition.

Geneva′s men and women seem to be in a good place with the conference championships coming up. The Golden Tornadoes will compete against the best the PAC has to offer on September 27.
