Beaver Falls, PA - Mandee Craft, the 12th year head coach of the Geneva College women′s tennis, handed her team a goal of placing a player in each PAC post-season tournament flight by season′s end. Craft′s goal was reached as Geneva will go up against the best the Presidents′ Athletic Conference has to offer at this weekend′s championship event. Taking place at the Pennbriar Athletic Club in Erie, PA, Geneva will throw its hat into the ring against the other nine member schools of the PAC.
On Wednesday, the PAC announced the seedings for the 2012 tournament. Geneva′s Julie Kline will lead the Golden Tornadoes as its #1 singles representative and sixth seed. Alyssa Kuhn is seeded seventh at number two singles and freshman Samantha Jensen will make her post-season debut as the fourth seed in number three singles. Brittany Kress is seeded fifth in fourth singles while Christine Bullock is Geneva′s highest ranking player with a third seed in number five singles. Rounding out the singles competition for Geneva is Alison Beattie with a number four spot.
In doubles action, Kline and Bullock are seeded sixth in top doubles while Jensen and Jen Bullock are seeded sixth in second doubles. Kress and Courtney Light will put their 8-1 seasonal record on the line as the third seed in number three doubles.
The tournament opens up on Friday and will be completed on Saturday with champions crowned in all nine flights. Team champions will also be named by the end of the day.
