New Wilmington, PA - The match on Wednesday night at Westminster College turned out to be as close as expected. Geneva and Westminster entered the match separated by just one game in the PAC standings with the Golden Tornadoes looking up at the Titans despite an early season victory over Westminster. Geneva managed to sweep the season series with a 3-2 victory on Wednesday night that helped Geneva improve to 19-8 overall and 10-4 in league play. The victory also pushed Geneva past Westminster for the all important fourth spot in the standings. A fourth place finish would assure Geneva of at least one post-season home match.

Geneva and Westminster hooked up in a see-saw affair that resulted in a five set for the Golden Tornadoes by scores of 25-20, 16-25, 25-21, 15-7. Geneva jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the fifth and deciding set and never allowed the Titans to grab the lead. Geneva featured three players with double digit kills led by Ashley Davis′ 21 kills on the night with a .316 hitting percentage. Teammates Kristland McCracken and Maggie Bowersox each finished with 14 kills in the victory. On defense, Deanna Briody led a quintet of players with double digit digs with a team best 22 on the night. McCracken and Alex Baughman each posted 15 digs. Briody also finished the night with 48 digs.

Geneva will take another crack and first place Thomas More in Crestview Hills, KY on Friday evening before returning home to close out the regular season next week with matches against Bethany on Tuesday and Saint Vincent next Thursday.
