Erie, PA - The Geneva College women′s tennis team turned some heads and opened some eyes throughout the 2012 campaign. The Golden Tornadoes ended the regular season with an 8-6 overall record and a mark of 5-4 in the PAC. On Friday, Geneva puts its best up against the best the PAC has to offer in the 2012 Championships at Pennbriar Athletic Club in Erie.

Junior Christine Bullock highlighted the afternoon of action as the only player to advance to a PAC final match on Saturday. Bullock won a pair of matches on Friday to advance to the PAC final in number five singles. She opened her day with a classic against Washington & Jefferson. Surviving the first set tie-breaker by the score of 7-4, Bullock dropped the second set 3-6. In the tie-breaking set, Bullock held on for a 10-6 victory in a match that exceeded three hours.

Alison Beattie and Brittany Kress also were victorious in their opening round matches in sixth and fourth singles respectively. Beattie defeated W & J in straight sets while Kress won her first round match against Grove City in straight sets. Both Beattie and Kress dropped their semi-final matches but will get back on the court on Saturday for consolation matches.

In doubles action, tandem of Courtney Light and Brittany Kress finished the 2012 season with an 8-1 overall record. On Friday, the duo picked up a first round victory by the score of 8-3. They dropped the next match by an identical score and will also be on court on Saturday for a chance to finish third in the number three doubles flight.

Championship Saturday begins at 8:30 am and Geneva′s Bullock will get her chance to pick up a PAC title against Saint Vincent in the fifth singles flight later in the day.
