Beaver Falls, PA - In what was one of the biggest matches for the Geneva College women′s soccer team in recent years, the Golden Tornadoes ran out of steam in the second half of a 4-0 loss to Grove City. That match was to determine, for all intensive purposes, the fourth and final play-off spot in the PAC tournament with one week left of the regular season. The loss left Geneva at 7-8-1 overall and 3-4 in the PAC standings looking up at a Grove City team that took a commanding two game lead after Saturday′s result.

The Wolverines drew first blood with the only first half goal of the game to take a 1-0 advantage into the break. While Grove City got the better of the play by out shooting Geneva 12-5 in the first half, freshman goalkeeper Anna McMullen made seven first half saves to keep Geneva hanging around.

The Wolverines took advantage of a tiring Geneva team in the final stanza and struck for three additional goals to extend the lead to a 4-0 spread. For the game, Grove City out shot Geneva 23-10 with McMullen finishing with 11 saves in the loss.

Geneva will close out the regular season with home games against Chatham on Wednesday and Thiel next Saturday. The Golden Tornadoes are going to need some help to reach the PAC play-offs but will also be in search of a .500 record to become NCCAA post-season eligible.
