Debate_Party.jpgThe Geneva College community celebrated the last presidential debate of 2012 with a party in the Brig co-hosted by the Student Programs Office (SPO) and the Geneva College Student Union (GCSU).

An estimated 200 students piled into the Brig, lining up for wings from the local Wing Emporium and watching the debate unfold on three television screens.

"It was really surprising to see that many people show up," said the GCSU's Vice President of Communications Pamela Matteo. "Everyone was really quiet, so you could see that they were very into the debate. It was a very memorable experience. It only comes once every four years, so it was great to experience it as a college community."

The 1,200 wings were gone within 30 minutes.

"The wings were amazingly delicious," said senior Adam Rowe. "I sat with a table of my friends, and I definitely enjoyed the debate a lot better while being able to make jokes with my friends and eating wings."

Junior Luke Gray agreed. "I know a lot of students loved that they were serving wings," he said. "And I was shocked how many students stayed afterwards to watch the debate even after the wings were gone."

On November 6, 2012, the polls will open and U.S. citizens will choose the country′s next President. And a couple hundred Geneva students will be able to cast an informed vote thanks to the SPO and GCSU.
