Pittsburgh_Promise.jpgGeneva College has pledged to help more students from the City of Pittsburgh earn their degrees by matching Pittsburgh Promise scholarship money for those who enroll for the 2013-14 academic year. This assures Promise-eligible students that they are guaranteed to receive at least the amount of a matching grant in addition to any money received from the Promise.

"I am deeply grateful for Geneva College′s clear commitment to making higher education more accessible to our city′s kids," says Pittsburgh Promise Executive Director Saleem Ghubril. "Matching The Promise′s scholarship along with providing a solid education in a nurturing environment, make Geneva an even more attractive option for many urban youth. On their behalf, I offer my thanks."

Geneva′s Associate Vice President of Enrollment Dave Layton adds, "Our hope and prayer is that this will provide access to an academically challenging, Christ-centered Geneva education for more Promise students."

The Pittsburgh Promise is a community commitment to help the families of Pittsburgh plan, prepare and pay for education beyond high school. Students who graduate from Pittsburgh Public Schools and live in the City of Pittsburgh can earn up to a $40,000 scholarship to attend any accredited post-secondary institution in Pennsylvania as long as they maintain an average GPA of 2.5 and an attendance record of 90% in high school. The scholarship is paid over the course of four years as long as the student maintains a college GPA of 2.0 and a fulltime class load.

Qualifying students interested in applying for a Promise scholarship should visit The Pittsburgh Promise′s website at www.pittsburghpromise.org. Information is also available by emailing info@pittsburghpromise.org or calling The Promise office at 412-281-7605.

Those who would like to find out more about applying to Geneva and receiving a Promise-matching grant can contact the college′s Office of Admissions at 800-847-8255 or admissions@geneva.edu. Information is also available at www.geneva.edu.
