Canton, OH - The Geneva College women′s volleyball team knew it had its work cut out on Saturday at the NCCAA regional tournament. After defeating Houghton College 3-1 in the quarter-final round, the Golden Tornadoes saw their season come to an end with a 3-0 loss to NCAA Division II Malone University. Geneva ended the 2012 season with an overall record of 24-13.

In the quarter-final round, Geneva defeated Houghton by scores of 21-25, 25-18, 25-19, 25-23. Ashley Davis led the offense with 17 kills as Kristland McCracken picked up 14 kills and Rachel Netherland followed with 11 kills in the victory. Courtney Aldrige led the defense at the net with four blocks. Deanna Briody and Lynsey Gugino combined for 48 assists while Paige Banyas had a team best 16 digs.

The Golden Tornadoes fell to Malone in the semi-finals by scores of 18-25, 28-15, 11-25. The only highlight of the semi-final match was again the play of Aldridge at the net with three more blocks.

Following back to back record setting seasons with single season victory totals, the Golden Tornadoes put together another solid season with an overall record of 24-13. Congratulations to seniors Paige Banyas, Kristland McCracken and Maggie Bowersox on an incredible four years.
