Beaver Falls, PA - The Geneva College women′s basketball team opened the home portion of its 2012-13 schedule on Tuesday night and suffered the same fate it had in its first two road games of the new year. The Golden Tornadoes dropped a 49-43 decision to Penn State Beaver in a game that featured more turnovers than baskets. The loss dropped Geneva to 0-3 on the season as the Lions improved to 3-1.

Geneva scored the game′s first three points and led 3-1 nearly six minutes into the game before Penn State Beaver registered its first field goal. The Lions led by as many ten points in the first half and took a 23-17 lead into the halftime break. Geneva scored 12 of the first 17 points of the second half to grab a 29-28 lead with 14 minutes remaining in the game. Penn State scored the next ten points to post a 38-29 lead and would never relinquish the lead down the stretch.

The two teams combined for 63 turnovers in the game with Geneva committing 31 miscues in the loss. The Golden Tornadoes shot 38% from the field for the game but was 0-6 from three-point range. Penn State shot 37% from the field and was just 1-17 from outside the arc.

Heidi Mann scored 12 points to lead the Geneva offense while Amanda Temple posted 13 points and Cassandra Flowers posted 12 points for the winners.

Geneva will hit the road again on Saturday when it faces Carlow University at 2 pm in search of its first win of the new season.
