Pittsburgh, PA - In search of its first victory of the 2012-13 season, the Geneva College men′s basketball team came up empty for the fourth time to start the year in a 73-55 loss to LaRoche College on Saturday afternoon. The loss dropped Geneva to 0-4 to start the season for the first time since 1981.

LaRoche took a 36-27 lead into the halftime break and never allowed Geneva to get back in the game. After cutting the lead to just four points at 40-34 early in the second half, Geneva watched LaRoche score 19 of the next 24 points to open up a 59-39 lead midway through the second half.

Matt Lorello led the team in scoring for the fourth consecutive game with 19 points on 8-14 shooting from the field. Lorello was the only Geenva player to score in double figures despite getting points from nine different players.

Geneva shot the ball extremely well with a mark of 51% for the game while holding LaRoche to 45%. The difference in the game was on the glass as LaRoche pulled down 15 offensive rebounds and out rebounded Geneva 30-23 for the game. Andre Flanigan led the Redhawks with 19 points as part of a balanced attack that featured three players in double figures.

LaRoche also knocked down nine three-point field goals and shot 36% from outside the arc. Lionel Perkins had four three-pointers to lead the home team to victory.

Geneva won′t have much time to recover as the Golden Tornadoes return home on Monday to take on Allegheny College at Metheny Fieldhouse at 7:30 pm. The Golden Tornadoes open conference play on Wednesday night at Thiel College.
