Greenville, PA - The Geneva College women′s basketball team opened the Presidents′ Athletic Conference schedule on Wednesday night and posted its best offensive game of the year. Unfortunately, the Golden Tornadoes, which has the top defense in the PAC coming into action, allowed a season high 78 points in a 78-58 loss to Thiel. The loss dropped Geneva to 0-5 overall and 0-1 in conference play.
One of the main reasons for the season high 58 points came in the name of Leah Prisuta. Prisuta scored 19 points on 7-15 shooting from the field and a pair of three point field goals. She also tied for the team lead with five rebounds. Heidi Mann scored 12 points and Chelsea D′Urso added ten in the loss.
While Geneva was outscored by just one point in the second half, it was the first half that proved to be the difference. Thiel scored 47 points in the first half while opening up a 19 point advantage in the first 20 minutes. The Tomcats shot 53% from the field in the first half including 6-14 from three point range. Geneva trailed by as many as 30 points at 64-34 with 11 minutes remaining in the second half. In the first half, Thiel scored ten of the first 12 points of the game and never trailed.
Geneva will hit the road again on Saturday in another PAC match-up. The Golden Tornadoes head to Pittsburgh to take on Chatham in search of their first victory of the season.
