Greenville, PA - Geneva opened the 2012-13 PAC schedule on Wednesday and the result was much the same as the first five non-conference games to start the season. The Golden Tornadoes dropped a 91-79 decision to Thiel College to fall to 0-6 to start the year. Despite a second half comeback, the Golden Tornadoes were unable to overcome a 25-point halftime deficit against Thiel.

Geneva never led in the game but with the scored tied at 4-4 Thiel scored the game′s next 12 points and never looked back. Thiel shot 68% from the field in the first half in opening up a 54-29 lead at the break. The Golden Tornadoes outscored Thiel 50-37 in the second half with Jordan Harbison catching fire and posting all 21 of his points in the second stanza. Harbison was the first player other than Matt Lorello to lead Geneva in scoring in the first six games. He connected on seven three-point field goals in the final 20 minutes to lead Geneva with his 21 points.

Lorello scored 18 points and grabbed five boards while Tyler Damazo was a perfect 6-6 from the line and finished with ten points, all of which came in the first half. While Harbison was busy lighting things up in the second half, it was Thiel′s Kamran McCaskill who did the damage in the first half. McCaskill connected on 11-13 from the field in the first half and scored 25 points. He finished the game with 38 points on 17-20 shooting from the field. The Tomcats finished the game with a 58% mark from the field while also outrebounding Geneva 40-28.

The Golden Tornadoes will have the remainder of the week off but the schedule doesn′t get any easier next week. Geneva will take on Bethany College in West Virginia next Wednesday night before heading to Ohio to take on Division I Youngstown State next Thursday. The Golden Tornadoes will finally return home a week from Saturday for the conference home opener against Waynesburg at 7:30 pm on December 8th.
