Beaver Falls, PA - Coming off its first victory of the season, the Geneva College women′s basketball team enjoyed 12 days off for the Christmas holiday. Back on the court on Friday evening, the Golden Tornadoes dropped a 62-46 decision to Wooster College on the first day of Geneva′s holiday tournament. The loss dropped Geneva to 1-9 while Wooster improved to 6-4 on the season.

Cold shooting in the first half put the Golden Tornadoes in an early hole that they could not climb out of in the second half. Geneva converted nine field goals in the first 20 minutes and went to the locker room trailing 33-20. The Golden Tornadoes shot 28% from the field for the game and just 4-19 from three-point range. Geneva did force Wooster into 17 turnovers but the Fighting Scots were able to overcome their carelessness with the basketball by shooting 45% from the field and knocking down seven three-point field goals.

Geneva was never able to cut the deficit into single digits in the second half as they went into an offensive drought and trailed by as many as 29 points at 62-33 with 5:47 left in the second half. The Golden Tornadoes finished the game on a 13-0 run to drop the 16-point decision.

The Golden Tornadoes will turn around less than 24 hours later and host Franciscan University in day two of the holiday tournament. Geneva will get back into PAC play next Wednesday night when it hosts Thomas More College at 5:30 pm.
