Wooster, OH - Geneva College head men′s basketball coach Jeff Santarsiero would have probably liked to avoid the holiday break this season. After watching the Golden Tornadoes pick up their first victory of the season 20 days ago, Santarsiero had his team back to work nearly three weeks later. The lay-off did not serve Geneva well as the Golden Tornadoes ran into a Marietta College buzz saw on Friday night in a 92-50 loss. The loss dropped Geneva to 1-9 on the season while Marietta continued to roll with an overall record of 8-2.

Marietta shot 56% from the field in the first half as it ran out to a 44-22 halftime advantage. The second half turned out to be more of the same as the Pioneers finished the game at 51% from the field including ten from three-point range. Geneva managed just nine second half field goals and finished the contest shooting 30% from the field.
Jordan Harbison was Geneva′s only player to reach double figures with 12 points on 4-7 shooting from three-point range. A total of 11 different players scored for Geneva with Matt Lorello posting eight points and a team best seven rebounds in the loss.

The Golden Tornadoes will have less than 24 hours to prepare for day two of the Wooster College Tournament as they will meet John Carroll on Saturday at 2 pm. Geneva gets back into conference play on Wednesday night when it hosts Thomas More at 7:30 pm.
