Following a successful inaugural year in 2012, Geneva College will once again offer "Beyond Here: The Senior Success Project" during the spring 2013 semester. "Beyond Here" is a set of programs that are geared toward helping graduating students transition to life after college. Over 20 programs that address the specific needs of seniors have been identified for the series.

"For the second year in a row, Geneva is offering a set of programsspecifically designed to assist senior students transition out of college," explained Christy Coulter, Director of Academic Counseling Center and Educational Support Services. "Students found the programs to be extremely beneficial last year. We will continue to offer programs such as resume building, debt management, and graduate school preparation; in addition to transitioning into new community and developing new relationships.

"Beyond Here" originated through a research project conducted by Coulter, along with Geneva graduate Colin Skinner. They found that while graduating students are most focused on obtaining employment immediately after graduation, alumni tend to feel that they would have benefited from additional programs that provided skills for operating within the workplace.

"We hope the programs continue to help seniors intentionally engage in the transition out of college so they are better prepared to be employees, community members, neighbors, and contributors to society," Coulter added.
